On July 30, 2023 at 3:52 in the afternoon, Queens District RCMP responded to a collision between a pick-up truck and a cyclist. The cyclist was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and is now in stable condition. Route 2 in Scotchfort was closed for several hours while an RCMP traffic reconstructionist analyzed the scene. EMS, the East River Fire Department and the department of transportation attended and rendered assistance. This investigation is ongoing.
